8 Mart 1857 tarihinde ABD\u2019nin New York kentinde 40.000 kad\u0131n dokuma i\u015f\u00e7isi \u2018e\u015fit i\u015fe e\u015fit \u00fccret\u2019, \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma saatlerinde azalma ve do\u011fum izni istemiyle greve ba\u015flad\u0131. Bu grev esnas\u0131nda \u00e7\u0131kan yang\u0131nda fabrikaya kilitlenen 129 kad\u0131n i\u015f\u00e7i ya\u015fam\u0131n\u0131 yitirdi. Bu katliam\u0131n \u00fcst\u00fcnden 160 y\u0131l ge\u00e7ti.
